Paclitaxel(English: paclitaxel,PTX, or PacificPaclitaxel)
A high-efficiency, low-toxicity, broad-spectrum natural anti-cancer drug, molecular formula C47H51NO14, has been widely used in clinical treatment of breast cancer, ovarian cancer and some head and neck cancer and lung cancer.
At present, Taxus plants are still the main source of taxol. The main way to obtain taxol is to directly extract and separate taxol from Taxus or to synthesize taxol from the extracted taxol structural analogs. So far, taxol is mainly extracted directly from the branches and leaves or bark of natural and artificially cultivated Taxus chinensis. Paclitaxel instability, long separation cycle, susceptible to acid-base, temperature and other conditions of isomerization and degradation, at the same time, low separation efficiency leads to higher production costs, but also makes the limited resources of Taxus chinensis difficult to achieve effective use. Therefore, it is very necessary and urgent to explore the extraction and purification technology of taxol in a more in-depth and comprehensive way, and to establish a rapid, efficient, economical and environmentally friendly extraction and purification method. The extraction and purification techniques of paclitaxel were reviewed.
